St. Cloud Times — Sixth- through ninth-grade girls and their parents received an education in science, technology, engineering and math Saturday.
A Tech Savvy event brought about 70 kids to St. Cloud State University. The St. Cloud branch of American Association of University Women organized the day, with students and staff from St. Cloud State and the College of St. Benedict assisting.
Workshops, panels and presentations taught girls about webpage design, energy, 3-D printing, data and more. Professionals from multiple businesses and Girl Scouts led the sessions in Brown Hall, the Integrated Science and Engineering Laboratory Facility, planetarium and Engineering and Computing Center.

A Cathedral High School graduate who earned a master’s degree in mass communications from St. Cloud State, MacLeod said her alma mater was instrumental in putting on Tech Savvy. The school donated space, and professor Melissa Hanzsek-Brill organized presenters.
