Jim Johnson
Alumnus Jim Johnson ’95 ’96 is the 2016 Richard Green Scholar for the Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA).
Johnson is superintendent of Monticello Schools.
The Richard Green Scholars Program honors the scholarly work and professional development of Minnesota school leaders. The award recognizes the research, writing and presentation of one paper each year that reflects the practice of excellent school leadership.
“It’s an honor to be chosen by my peers as the Richard Greene Scholar,” Johnson said. “I’m hopeful that the opportunity to share my study with district leaders will lead to more successful implementation of Personal Learning Communities in school districts across Minnesota.”
Johnson was announced the 2016 Richard Green Scholar at the MASA Spring Conference in April.
He will present his paper “”An Evaluation of Implementation and Effectiveness of Personal Learning Communities in Minnesota Public Schools” at the MASA Fall Conference, where he also will be honored with a recognition plaque and monetary award.
Johnson is the third St. Cloud State alum in a row to be honored with the distinction. Curt Tryggestad ’89 ’15, superintendent of Eden Prairie Schools, was the 2015 recipient and presented on his research “The Role of Minnesota Superintendent as a Technology Leader: A Delphi Study” at the 2015 fall conference. Heidi Hahn ’07 ’13, director of the Paul Bunyan Educational Cooperative, presented on her research “Leadership Practices and Their Impact on Teacher Job Satisfaction” in 2014.
