St. Cloud Times – Classes, processes and prayers continue at St. Cloud State University two days after its president died.
Earl H. Potter III was involved in a one-vehicle accident Monday in Brooklyn Center. The school where he served since 2007 announced his death Tuesday.
On Wednesday, university spokesman Adam Hammer said discussions about a potential memorial service on campus are ongoing.
Christian groups are sponsoring a prayer service for Potter on Thursday. It will be 12-12:30 p.m. at the Christ Church Newman Center, 396-1st Ave. S.
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities officials have not discussed a timeline for replacing Potter, according to spokesman Doug Anderson.
“Our priorities have been supporting President Potter’s family and our SCSU colleagues and students, as well as continuity of operations at the university,” Anderson said in an email.
MnSCU Chancellor Steven Rosenstone has named Provost Ashish Vaidya acting president of St. Cloud State. Next week, he will ask the system board of trustees to appoint Vaidya as interim president.
