ABC Newspapers — The Anoka County Board June 14 appointed a new county assessor effective July 1.
Mike Sutherland, who has held the position for close to 13 years, is leaving the job June 30.
Sutherland’s last day is June 30 with six months remaining on his four-year term as county assessor.
The board named Alex Guggenberger ’10, who is currently assessment compliance coordinator in the assessor’s office, to be county assessor for the remainder of Sutherland’s term, which ends Dec. 31.
Guggenberger has a Bachelor of Science degree in real estate from St. Cloud State University, and from August 2006 to May 2010, he was a residential appraiser for Guggenberger Appraisal Services before becoming a residential appraiser for the city of Minneapolis. He joined Anoka County as assessment compliance coordinator in November 2012.
