Those who know longtime teacher Fred Rupp call his abilities remarkable.
His legacy as a teacher, coach and founder of the Les Voyageurs program even earned him his own day as proclaimed by St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis on May 23.
But for Rupp, who retired this spring after 42 years of teaching at St. Cloud Cathedral High School, connecting with kids and helping them achieve their potential is just part of who he is.
Rupp, 65, wasn’t always convinced he would be a teacher. After graduating from Cathedral, he attended St. Cloud State University to study biology and earth sciences. But a few experiences during his first few years after high school changed his mind, he said.
