Sosa Lopez was interested in doing his fellowship at St. Cloud State because of the university’s longstanding collaboration with CETYS. In June, the two universities signed a partnership that will bring together students studying medical technology quality at both universities.
Beginning this fall, CETYS students studying for their Medical Manufacturing Masters in Engineering and Innovation will take St. Cloud State’s medical technology quality courses synchronously with students studying in the classroom in Plymouth.
“I look forward to working with Dr. Sosa Lopez in the upcoming year and continue to deepen our ties with CETYS,” Vaidya said. “The ACE Fellowship is a marvelous program that strengthens the leadership at all the colleges and universities involved.”
During placement Fellows observe and work with the president and other senior officers at their host institution, attend decision-making meetings and focus on issues of interest.
Fellows also conduct projects of pressing concern for their home institution and seek to implement their findings upon completion of the fellowship year. At the conclusion of the fellowship year, Fellows return to their home institution with new knowledge and skills that contribute to capacity-building efforts.
“Selection as a host institution is a sign of the outstanding reputation and commitment to excellence at St. Cloud State University,” said Sherri Lind Hughes, director of ACE Leadership and a 2002-03 ACE Fellow. “An ACE Fellow chooses an institution not only for its rigorous academic environment, high-quality efforts to educate students, but also its strong desire to invest in the future of higher education senior leadership as well.”
Established in 1965, the ACE Fellows Program is designed to strengthen institutional and leadership capacity in American higher education by identifying and preparing faculty and staff for senior positions in college and university administration. Forty-four Fellows, nominated by the senior administration of their institutions, will comprise the 2017-18 cohort at colleges and universities across the nation.
Nearly 2,000 higher education leaders have participated in the ACE Fellows Program over the past five decades, with more than 80 percent of Fellows having served as senior leaders of colleges and universities.
