ST. CLOUD TIMES — For the past few years, St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis ’89 has hosted monthly dinners at his house in the Seberger-Roosevelt Neighborhood.
He often serves chili and ice cream cake. Anyone can sign up — the only stipulation is that he doesn’t already know them.
After three years of these monthly dinners — as well as 678 town halls — it might come as a surprise that there’s anyone left that Kleis hasn’t met since he was elected to the office in 2005.
While he still has two years left on his term, Kleis hit a milestone last week: as of Nov. 20, he is the longest serving mayor in St. Cloud’s history.
Kleis, 54, surpasses Phil Collignon, who was the mayor from 1932-45 until he died of a heart attack.
