Following a national search, Jason Woods has accepted the position of Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) at St. Cloud State University and will join the leadership team in February.
Woods comes to St. Cloud State with 20 years of enrollment- and student life- related experience in higher education. He has been serving as the associate vice president for student services and the interim director of undergraduate admissions at Western Illinois University. In this role he has created and implemented the overall recruitment plan for the university and directly oversees student service units including The Women’s Center, Career Development Center, Veterans Resources Center and others.
He previously served as dean of admission and financial planning at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. He also held increasingly responsible positions in admissions for Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa.
He has taught as adjunct faculty and was the men’s and women’s soccer coach for Wartburg College from 2000-2005, and co-founded the Intercultural Allies for Higher Education (IAHE), which brings college leaders and students together to collaborate about intercultural practices.
“This is an exciting time at St. Cloud State as we transition to our first permanent vice president to oversee this new unit,” said President Robbyn Wacker. “I will look to Dr. Woods to build collaborative relationships across the University to coordinate and focus institutional efforts on a comprehensive student-centered approach to recruitment and retention; for being a strategic partner in the academic program portfolio management initiative; and for creating and sustaining external partnerships.”
Woods will also work closely with the president to continue the refinement and implementation of the evolving campus SEM Plan to grow and manage enrollment for new and continuing students.
Woods earned his doctorate in higher education and organizational change in 2013 from Benedictine University; his master’s degree in post-secondary education and student affairs in 2004 from the University of Northern Iowa; and his bachelor’s degree in public relations from Loras College.
As Vice President, Woods will lead the division that includes University Marketing and Communications, Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, Records and Registration and University College.
