ST. CLOUD TIMES — The 12th annual Big Sing is happening at St. Cloud State University and combines more than 200 vocalists from across Minnesota.
The festival concert includes the SCSU Concert Choir and Chamber Singers and this year welcomes the Big Lake High School Concert Choir and the Rogers High School Concert Choir. Additionally, groups of four to 16 students from six area high schools will participate.
For the third year in a row, the festival will be led by a guest composer. This year’s is Sidney Guillaume.
“I think it’s incredibly meaningful for the students to sing music under the direction of the composer because the composer can offer so much more insight into what the students are singing,” said Matthew Ferrell, organizer of the event.
The SCSU Concert Choir will perform Guillaume’s piece “Kalinda.”
