St. Cloud State University hosted The Minnesota Hip Hop and Education Summit on Nov. 4 in the Atwood Memorial Center.
The Minnesota Hip Hop and Education Summit, organized by Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management Dr. Jason Woods and English professor Dr. Michael Dando, was a one-day festival for teachers, community members and artists featuring events and activities throughout the day to celebrate hip hop and learn about its use in educational spaces.
“It was a wonderful foundation that I see our institution continuing to build on,” Dr. Woods said of the summit. “At its core, The Minnesota Hip Hop and Education Summit is geared at teaching us to meet students where they are in order to help to further their education. To me, it aligns so closely with how we want to serve students at St. Cloud State University.”
