St. Cloud State Campus Recreation has put together two exercise series geared toward women this February: Women only Weights and Women only Swim.
The Women only Weights program is a women’s weightlifting program guided by a female student worker in the Fitness Center. The goal of the program is to assist women in improving posture, increasing strength, losing body mass and improving confidence with a female instructor. The Fitness Center will be closed to males during the program.
Campus Recreation’s Women only Swim program is about building community, confidence and fun while making a splash. Female lifeguards and first responders will be used if need. The pool will be closed to males during the program.
No membership is required for either program. Just check in at the Welcome Desk of Campus Recreation.
“Women lifting weights and swimming comes down to empowerment,” said Calvin Diggs, Campus Recreation Director. “Women empowering women to take agency over their bodies, take control of their workouts and collectively create an inclusive space for those with the passion and curiosity for working out and swimming.”
Taking the first, and often scary, step into the weight room/swimming pool could begin this month, he said.
Women only Weights is from 8-9 p.m. on Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 27. Women only Swim is 6:15-8:30 p.m. on Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
