SCSU, Park Industries receive nearly $50k grant from DEED

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has awarded a $49,998 grant to St. Cloud State University for partnership with Park Industries.

Located in St. Cloud, Park Industries is North America’s largest manufacturer of stone working equipment. The company is partnering with SCSU for a skills development program for 80 business leaders focused on collaboration and communications skills, executive transformation and Tri-Metrics Certification.

SCSU partners with Journeyable, launches new disability training around travel

The Center for International Disability Advocacy and Diplomacy (CIDAD) at St. Cloud State University has partnered with Journeyable, the world’s most accessible travel community, to elevate accessibility on the world stage and empower every person with determination to journey limitlessly.

Concurrently, CIDAD launched Access to All, a new disability awareness training initiative. The news was announced Nov. 16 at the official Journeyable launch in Kauai, Hawaii, where SCSU and CIDAD were celebrated as the exclusive education partner of Journeyable.

St. Cloud State expands formal ties with two Australian colleges during trade mission

St. Cloud State University announced on Nov. 16 that it has expanded its curriculum sharing and study-abroad relationships with two Australian colleges to increase study-abroad enrollment for historically underrepresented students.

As part of the agreements signed this week during Minnesota’s trade mission to Australia, SCSU will share curriculum and expand its study-abroad exchange with Southern Cross University (Sydney) and Victoria University (Melbourne).

SCSU selected as new machine tool workforce development center

ACE is a national initiative aimed at revitalizing U.S. manufacturing, and SCSU was chosen along with the University of St. Thomas to provide essential training in manufacturing across the state. ACE now has regional machine tool training centers in nine states, providing free online and in-person training for the machine tool industry.  

SCSU will use a 53-foot semi-trailer as their mobile training center, ideal for reaching rural communities throughout Minnesota.

SCSU to become first institution in Minnesota to offer certificate-based cannabis education program

St. Cloud State University will offer new online certificate programs this fall in cannabis education, the first of its kind in Minnesota.

SCSU’s Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) division is partnering with California-based
cannabis education company Green Flower to deliver the content. These non-credit certificate programs
are available to anyone over the age of 18.

Dave Blanchard named Director of Online and Distance Learning

Davidson (Dave) Blanchard has been appointed as Director of Online and Distance Learning (SCSU Online) in Academic Affairs following a competitive nationwide search that attracted a talented pool of applicants.

A longtime Husky, Dave is very familiar to the campus community, having previously served as Interim Director of SCSU Online and a faculty member in the Department of Teacher Development.

Katrina Schiller continues family’s long SCSU tradition

Katrina Schiller was the first of her family of five to not initially attend St. Cloud State University. But while attending the University of Minnesota her first few years of college, she knew something was missing.

“I really wanted that sense of community I’d feel at SCSU,” Schiller said. “I knew they have a great (psychology) program, and it’s a smaller community for greater options to form connections … I felt like it would be a better fit for me.”
