Congratulations to the St. Cloud State University wrestling team on winning the NCAA Division II national championship Saturday in St. Louis. It is the first time St. Cloud State has won a national championship in any sport, any division. But this victory wasn’t a fluke.
The school honored the team with a short celebration and program Tuesday afternoon at the Atwood Center. Around 300 people came to watch a video of the championship run and hear from the team’s head coach, Steve Costanzo, and the Huskies’ six All-Americans.
The St. Cloud State University Wrestling Team celebrated not only their first, but the University’s first National Championship in school history. SCSU Athletic Director Heather Weems was at the Wrestling Championships, and says it was great to watch the team’s hard work pay off.
