SCSU alumnus named MN Elementary Phy Ed Teacher of the Year
St. Cloud State University alumnus Mike Chamberlain has been selected as the Minnesota Society of Health and Physical Educators’ (MNSHAPE) Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year Award winner.
Chamberlain graduated from SCSU in 2010 with a BS in Physical Education. He said he is a proud alumnus of St. Cloud State, making and maintaining many connections at the University.

Afghanistan refugee maintains hope despite turbulent 12 months
Courage is a characteristic that speaks through actions. Sakina, a 2021 graduate of St. Cloud State University, has displayed it throughout her entire life. It took courage to attend university in her home country of Afghanistan, a path often not supported for women. Courage to move thousands of miles away to earn a master’s degree at SCSU and return home to use her new skills to better her country. And it also took courage to flee when her safety was no longer guaranteed.
Retired MLB player uses platform to advocate for others with Tourette syndrome
St. Cloud State University alumnus and former SCSU baseball player Jim Eisenreich went decades — some of them in Major League Baseball — without answers for why he felt the way he did. Since being diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, he has used his platform and resources to support others with the same diagnosis through the Jim Eisenreich Foundation for Children with Tourette Syndrome.
