Importance of public, private partnerships in higher education discussed at annual Leadership Breakfast

St. Cloud State University’s 2023 annual Leadership Breakfast took place Thursday, June 8 at Union Depot in St. Paul.

President Robbyn Wacker was part of a panel with John Bryant, CEO of GeoComm, and Aaron Fisk ’04, Senior VP of Custom Partnerships with Microbiologics. The panel, moderated by SCSU Foundation President Lynne Warne ’85, discussed the importance of private and public partnerships in higher education.

SCSU offers prospective students unique on-campus experiences

St. Cloud State University is providing students considering pursuing their higher education at SCSU with a unique on-campus opportunity to experience all that campus has to offer.

SCSU’s Advising and Student Transitions team is offering prospective students with an Overnight Visit Experience, which welcomes students to an evening on campus while staying overnight in one of SCSU’s residence halls.

SCSU students take part in BWCA Outdoor Excursion over Memorial Day

St. Cloud State University students from Congo, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Ghana received a unique experience over the Memorial Day holiday.

The international students participated in a five-day, four-night Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) Outdoor Excursion during Memorial Day weekend. This was the first opportunity for these students to fish, hike, canoe and enjoy outdoor recreational activities of this type.

Mass Communications student recognized by STAA All-America Program

A St. Cloud State University Mass Communications student was recognized as one of the most outstanding collegiate radio and TV sports broadcasters in the country in May.

Junior Anna Behning, who works with Husky Productions and is a News Sports Anchor with UTVS, received 2023 All-American Honorable Mention recognition by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) All-America Program, which recognizes the top collegiate sportscasters each spring.

Lemonade Concert and Art Fair preparing for 50th annual celebration in 2023

The Lemonade Concert and Art Fair is preparing for its return to the St. Cloud State University campus in 2023 while building onto the tradition of being once of SCSU’s best-known campus traditions and the opening of the St. Cloud Granite City Days community-wide event.

But this year, the fair is preparing for a big anniversary year when the festivities begin on June 22 while celebrating the 50th annual year of the fair taking place at SCSU.

SCSU students, faculty and staff receive unique opportunity to tour Federal Correctional Institute Sandstone

A group of SCSU students, faculty and staff recently embarked on a unique tour of the Federal Correctional Institute Sandstone in April.

The tour, organized by Associate Warden Josh Hovden and the SCSU Career Center, aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the outstanding employment opportunities available with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Correctional staff guided the group through various sections of the facility while shedding light on the day-to-day operations, security measures, rehabilitation programs offered to inmates and more.

SCSU Library staff earn Minnesota Academic Innovator Award

Staff members of the St. Cloud State University Library recently received the 2023 Minnesota Academic Innovator’s Award by the Minnesota Library Association.

The team of Robin Ewing, Jennifer Quinlan, Tom Steman, Melissa Prescott and Missy Northenscold were honored for making course materials and scholarships more affordable and accessible for SCSU and Minnesota State system.
