ST. CLOUD TIMES — The women’s choirs of four Minnesota universities are coming together to raise money for advocacy and bring awareness to issues involving domestic violence.
St. Cloud State University, St. Scholastica, the College of St. Benedict, University of Northwestern-St. Paul and the University of St. Thomas are coming together to raise money and raise their voices in support of Anna Marie’s Alliance.
“It’s about empowering women, and strength,” said Matt Ferrell, director of chorale activities at St. Cloud State.
The idea behind the musical program and its title “Still I Rise” encourages people to overcome obstacles. The event is an intertwining of music and survivor stories. Each group will present its own pieces and all the groups will come together to perform as one on a handful of songs including “Still I Rise” by composer Rosephanye Powell.
