St. Cloud State held its 52nd annual Mathematics Contest April 4 with 1,759 student participants from grades 7-12 representing 49 schools from Minnesota.

While the team from Aitkin, Minnesota was exploring and getting to know campus in their off-time, they crossed paths with President Robbyn Wacker.

After chatting, President Wacker spotted some members of the team were sporting other college t-shirts and it spurred her into action.

Wacker led the team to the University Bookstore, and on behalf of her and the St. Cloud State University Foundation, purchased St. Cloud State t-shirts for each member.

“It was more about letting them know that St. Cloud State is a wonderful and welcoming university,” Wacker said.

The 2020 Mathematics Contest is tentatively scheduled for April 2.

Every January, St. Cloud State sends Mathematics Contest registration materials to schools on a mailing list. If you would like to be on the mailing list or would like additional information, feel free to contact the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at [email protected] or (320) 308-3001.
