ST. CLOUD TIMES — Two companies in St. Cloud will add jobs and provide further training to current employees, a move expedited by two grants awarded in collaboration with St. Cloud State University.
Essilor Labs, which operates DBL Labs and Precision Optics Inc. in St. Cloud, received $350,000 in Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Funding (provided through the state Department of Employment and Economic Development) to provide training for 712 employees, 80 of which would be new, according to a news release from DEED.
Microbiologics, which provides microorganisms for quality-control testing, received $225,004 to train 195 employees, 60 of which would be new.
The most recent grants, awarded in late October, are two of 11 awarded to St. Cloud State University, said Workforce Development & Welcome Center Director Tammy Anhalt-Warner. In total, grants awarded to SCSU through the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership exceed $2.8 million and have served more than 4,600 people.
