Project Homeless Connect is an annual event that supports hundreds of community members experiencing homelessness each year, and St. Cloud State University is looking for your help in making it a success.
The event will be held Oct. 29 at the Rivers Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud. Last year the event served nearly 600 people and brought over 60 different social service agencies together.
Over 60 SCSU Social Work and Gerontology students will be volunteering at the event, along with social work and gerontology faculty. Each year SCSU raises nearly $11,000, monetary and in kind, to fill at least 500 basic needs bags for those experiencing homelessness, along with giving out over a thousand pairs of socks, feminine hygiene products, adult disposable underwear, children’s diapers and dental supplies.
“We care about people experiencing economic stress in our community,” said Sheila Moriarty, Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work. “Involvement from SCSU employees, students and the St. Cloud area are essential in making this event a success every year.”
