St. Cloud State University’s student-run television station UTVS has launched a new streaming app to deliver their award-winning content in more dynamic ways.

The UTVS Television app is now available to stream for free on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Apple iOS for iPad & iPhone and Android.

“We’re incredibly excited to introduce our new streaming app, designed specifically for smart devices on numerous platforms,” said UTVS Advisor Derrick Silvestri. “Whether you’re watching live television such as our Newscasts or diving into our vast library of Video on Demand (VOD) content, this platform delivers seamless access to entertainment wherever you are. It’s all about giving viewers more control, more content and a better experience.”

The app is hosted by Amazon Web Services and provides a 24/7 live stream of the UTVS Television cable TV channel, which is still available across the state as a cable TV channel through Spectrum.

The app’s VOD content includes all original UTVS programming, including Husky Mag, The Culture, UTVS News, Husky Productions and more. SCSU’s live Commencement ceremonies have already successfully utilized the new app’s online streaming capabilities last semester.

“We pride ourselves on the hands-on experience that our members obtain, and nowhere is that experience more visible than in the content that we make,” said Mya Fryckman, UTVS station manager and SCSU student. “With the introduction of the app, we ensure we are staying ahead of the curve when it comes to how viewers are consuming media.”
