About a dozen St. Cloud police officers received classroom and behind-the-wheel training at the Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center to learn the limitations of its new armored SWAT vehicle, how it drives and the safest way to operate it.
The officers were trained and certified on the military surplus armored personnel carrier using a protocol developed by St. Cloud State through the Center for Continuing Studies, which oversees the Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center.
Forty percent of St. Cloud police officers are criminal justice graduates of St. Cloud State.
