They are among the more than 1,500 students from five continents and 28 U.S. states earning degrees spring semester. The degree earners include 1,232 undergraduate students, 350 graduate students and 18 doctoral students.
Honors include 142 undergraduates earning Summa Cum Laude, 188 earning Magna Cum Laude and 234 earning Cum Laude cords
Many graduates will share their graduation-weekend photos on social media via the #SCSUGrads hashtag.
Graduates from the Herberger Business School, College of Science and Engineering, School of Computing, Engineering and Environment and School of Public Affairs will participate in the 10:30 a.m. ceremony.
Graduates from School of Education, College of Liberal Arts, School of the Arts and School of Health and Human Services will participate in the 3 p.m. ceremony.
Delivering the student address at the 10:30 a.m. ceremony is Sydney Wittnebel, Nassau, who is graduating Summa Cum Laude and earned a bachelor’s of science in accounting. While a Husky, she participated in intramurals, Beta Gamma Sigma sorority, Accounting Club, Quilting Club and helped welcome new students at Admitted Student Days.
The student speaker at 3 p.m. is Dillon Mielke, Aberdeen, South Dakota, who graduated with a bachelor of art degree in communication studies. Mielke served as a teaching assistant for Professor Tami Spry, and also served as president of a campus organization and was involved with “Ask a feminist”.

Sharing alumni remarks will be Terri Mische, executive director, St. Cloud State University Alumni Association.
Representing the Minnesota State will be Sampson Williams, trustee. Williams, of Brooklyn Center is a graduate of Hennepin Community College and a current student at Metropolitan State University.
Representing faculty will be Satomi Kohno, assistant professor of biology. Kohno holds three university degrees, including a doctorate from Yokohama City University.
Mayor David Kleis ’89 will bring greetings from the City of St. Cloud.
Wind Ensemble will perform music during the ceremonies, including “March for the Prince of Wales” by Joseph Haydn. The ensemble is directed by Catharine Bushman, assistant professor.
Parking will be free May 10 in campus parking lots and the 4th Avenue Parking Ramp. Graduates, their guests, faculty and staff are encouraged to use the free St. Cloud Metro Bus shuttle.
At St. Cloud State, an A average corresponds to a 4.0 grade-point average. Undergraduate honors are:
- Gold tassel |Summa cum laude (with highest honor) = 3.75 to 4.00
- Silver tassel| Magna cum laude (with great honor) = 3.50 to 3.74
- Red tassel| Cum laude (with honor) = 3.25 to 3.49
