Thanks in part to $8.8M in private gifts, the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center opened in September 2013 and ushered in a new era for St. Cloud State University men’s and women’s hockey. In addition to being home of the Huskies, the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center hosts local high schools and nearby colleges.
The university’s commencement exercises and other special events are also held at the Brooks Center. Each year, several hundred thousand students and fans are expected to enjoy this enhanced facility which features a spacious four-story atrium, expanded suites and club-level seating, wider concourses, upgraded concessions and restrooms, a conference and meeting space, renovated locker rooms, an expanded south plaza, and new graphics and displays showcasing SCSU’s men’s and women’s hockey programs, fans and university highlights.
To cap off their first year in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center the Huskies men’s hockey team won the inaugural championship in the newly formed National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
