Celebration to honor 2016 NCAA Champions set for March 16 at SCSU
St. Cloud State University fans will be able to celebrate the Huskies’ recent first place finish at the 2016 NCAA Division II wrestling championship at Noon on Wednesday, March 16.

SCSU Wrestling claims 2nd consecutive NCAA DII championship
The St. Cloud State University wrestling team captured the 2016 NCAA Division II national championship for the second consecutive season on Saturday, March 12 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Huskies tallied 90 points to bring home the national team title and they were led by redshirt freshman Brett Velasquez, who captured first place in the 125-pound bracket with a 5-0 win over Willy Bohince of Mercyhurtst.

Women’s Center to show film, raise funds

The campus center has organized a screening of “She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry” to start at 7 p.m. It is a “documentary that resurrects the buried history of the outrageous, often brilliant women who founded the modern women’s movement,” according to promotional materials.
Council meets new members of city management team
Dede Gaetz is the new human resources manager for the City of Peoria, Arizona.
Gaetz is from St. Cloud, Minn., where she served as the human resources director for the City of St. Cloud for approximately 26 years. Her experience also includes teaching senior and graduate level courses at St. Cloud State University, as well as working in county administration for Steam and McLeod counties in Minnesota.
St. Paul police’s first-ever intelligence analysts key to fighting crime
St. Paul police Senior Cmdr. Matt Toupal is crafting a summer plan for the eastern district in anticipation of the inevitable climb in crime that accompanies warmer weather.
This year, he has an extra tool to help make the most of his 90 officers — the department’s first-ever intelligence analysts, former military intelligence officers now tasked with looking at when, where and why crimes occur.
“This allows us to focus our resources on areas that need the most help,” said analyst Joseph Reiter.
