SCSU to host learning and technology summit for Minnesota educators

St. Cloud State University will host the Minnesota Learning Commons (MnLC) 2024 Learning and Technology Summit on Aug. 8, showcasing the University’s commitment to continually support innovative teaching practices.

The summit brings together educators from Minnesota State, the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Education/Pk12 school districts, allowing for valuable idea-sharing in the leadup to the academic year.

SCSU, SCTCC strengthen relationships with partnership summit

Faculty, staff and administrators from St. Cloud State University and St. Cloud Technical & Community College joined together for a partnership summit on SCSU’s campus on July 16, demonstrating the two institutions dedication to collaborate on future endeavors.

A dedicated team of St. Cloud State University faculty, staff, and administrators has been accepted into the highly competitive American Association of Colleges and University (AAC&U) Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum.

This prestigious program will enable the University to respond effectively to the challenges and opportunities artificial intelligence (AI) presents for courses and curricula.

SCSU Communications Professor awarded Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship

Eddah Mutua, a professor in St. Cloud State University’s Judy C. Pearson Department of Communication Studies, was awarded a fellowship by the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP) that supports educational projects in Africa.

This award is one of 60 projects funded for 2024-25 academic year that pair African Diaspora scholars with higher education institutions and collaborators in Africa to work together on curriculum co-development, collaborative research, graduate training and mentoring activities.

SCSU professor co-authors publication in prestigious science journal

Biology Assistant Professor Angela McDonnell recently co-authored a publication in the prestigious journal Nature titled Phylogenomics and the rise of the angiosperms.

“Having a publication in a journal like Nature, which spans all of science, is kind of a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” McDonnell said. “I feel really grateful to have amazing collaborators and colleagues that also want to work with me.”

Bigs on Campus celebrates 8th year

The Dr. Potter’s Bigs on Campus Mentoring Initiative celebrated the conclusion of it’s eighth year with 21 “matches” recognized for their dedication to the program. Bigs on Campus pairs St. Cloud State faculty, staff, alumni, and upperclassmen as role models and mentors with sixth through twelfth graders from South Jr. High and Tech High Schools.
