St. Cloud Times – The Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation has a tentative agreement to buy property south of the St. Cloud State University campus and create the city’s first COP House.
There is a house on the property at 600-13th St. S, but plans are to demolish it and build a new house in its place. The new house would become a COP House, a concept based on a program in Racine, Wis.
That program establishes a home base for officers in areas where police calls are high and where community-oriented policing can work to turn around troubled neighborhoods. It puts officers as stabilizing forces in the middle of where the problems are.
