There’s more to being a CEO than stock performance. That’s the message Morningstar apparently sent when it announced its 2015 CEO of the year award winner Tuesday, choosing Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf ’76 over the two other nominees, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and GE CEO Jeff Immelt.
Business and community leaders in Central Minnesota are attempting to change those statistics by offering a morning event to helping young women network with seasoned professionals from a variety of industries. Times Media, in conjunction with St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud Federal Credit Union, Marco Inc. and the Greater St. Cloud Development Corp., sponsored what they hope will become an annual mentoring event for women.
St. Cloud State University is a sponsor of the the sixth-annual Greater St. Cloud Community Pillars Forum from 7:30-10 a.m. Feb. 26 in the Terry Haws Room at the River’s Edge Convention Center.
A third annual contest and two new ones celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. brought 24 area students awards last week. Those results were “wonderful,” Drake said. The artist said the same about the third annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day breakfast at St. Cloud State University, which more than 500 people attended, and an evening ceremony at St. John’s University on Jan. 18.
